Features...
  • The First Presbyterian Church was founded in 1827. Fire destroyed the original church known as ''Old Blue'', now the site of the Washington Opra House. The original- Machanic's Row was located at the south corner of West Third and Wall Streets. John Armstrong built homes for self employed laborers: only two of the five row houses remain. The seven new houses, built by Armstrong was referred to as Mechanic's Row or Armstrong's Row. Federal style, with eyebrow windows at top, decending parapets, iron balconies and grill work reflect New Orleans influence.
