Description   ''Something Lost'' was first exhibited at the 65th Grand National Exhibition, Salmagundi Club in New York City.  The painting won the ''Peter Matulabage Memorial Award'' for best watercolor.   Features... I found the scene for ''Something Lost'' one cold December afternoon. I returned the next day and shot some photos. When I started the painting I stopped looking at the photos and just concentrated on the mood of a winter day. After I finished I wasn't sure of what I had. The deadline for a show in New York was near so I entered it. I was notified that I had won a major award. My wife, Susan, and I flew to New York for the awards ceremony. Needless to say I was overwhelmed at winning an award at the ''Grand National Exhibition". This was my first major award. Steve White
