Description Giclee Info

The ''Washington Welcome Center'' was painted on site as a demostration for one of my outdoor workshops.  It took me about three days to paint it.  Each day I would paint for three hours then my class would have the rest of the day for painting.  Old Washington in the early spring is really a beautiful town. Features...
  • The ''Cane Brake'' Visitor Center depicts a log cabin that has stood in Washington, Kentucky since circa 1790. It is one of the original 119 log cabins. A Buffalo Trace forming a roadway forty feet wide crossed the Ohio River at Maysville and led south toward the interior of Kentucky and its rich cane lands. This drew early frontiersmen like Simon Kenton. Kenton found Limestone Creek and the canebrakes for which he had searched for since 1775. In 1784, Kenton helped erect the first permanent structure between Washington and Maysville Kentucky. The lithographic print ''Sacred Land'' was painted not far from Washington on Simon Kentons original tract of land.
